MISSION
Advocating for:
- Mosopisyek indigenous ancestral rights
- Human rights abuses
- Conservation of their land using their indigenous knowledge in order to combat climate change.
The current initiative of our our organization is seeking for the identity of our tribe Mosopisyek to be included in the constitution of Uganda being supported by UNHCR. This comes when Uganda is going to have census on 10th May 2024, as Indigenous minority community we are tired of living in a borrowed identity. Hence we struggle to be identified as Mosopisyek tribe living in Mt. Elgon Uganda over 500 years ago.
Secondly, our organization Benet Mosop Indigenous Community Association has been given opportunity to be part of the workshop organized by ministry of tourism supported by USAID to review 2014 Uganda wildlife policy. Coordinator BMCA Chemutai David will represent not only mosopisyek of Benet Indigenous Community but also other Indigenous of Uganda.(Batwa, Tebeth, Basongora, Maragoli, Ik, Bakingwe, saboat and others).
VISION
Restitution of their ancestral land and promotes sports tourism, and culture in their ancestral land for future sustainability.
